For the 46th time, the MCH Messecenter Herning set the stage for the Danish Warmblood Stallion Show and the large equestrian fair Hest & Rytter (horse & Rider), which this year welcomed precisely 61,266 visitors.
As tradition dictates, horse enthusiasts from Denmark and abroad gathered in Herning, where five intense days offered breeding, exhibitions, championships, cups, shows, and international top sport.
A total of 61,266 visitors contributed to an unforgettable atmosphere throughout the five-day event, when the halls were filled with enthusiastic spectators celebrating the horse, breeding, and sport. The growing attendance confirms the Danish Warmblood Stallion Show’s position as one of Europe’s most significant equestrian events – and one of the most unique of its kind in the world.
Strong Support from All Sides
Danish Warmblood CEO Claus Hansen expressed great satisfaction with the event: “We are extremely pleased with the tremendous support we experienced this year,” he said. “Not only did we see an increase in visitors, but the number of stallions presented for licensing was also higher than in recent years. Leading up to the event we received requests from many national federations wanting their riders included on the start lists, which gave us sport at the highest international level.”
According to Hansen, the audience played a crucial role in the event’s success. “The spectators created a truly special atmosphere and a sense of celebration in Herning that spread throughout the entire event.”
World-class dressage in Jyske Bank Boxen
The Saturday afternoon delivered dressage at the highest international level during the CDI5 Grand Prix Freestyle to Music*, part of ECCO Five-Star Dressage. The atmosphere inside the Jyske Bank Boxen was electric as some of the world’s best dressage riders entered the arena, and the competition developed into a thrilling duel between Danish star Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Germany’s legendary Isabell Werth.
Werth impressed the audience aboard the Danish-bred Wendy de Fontaine (Sezuan x Blue Hors Soprano), bred by Kurt Gosmer. Their performance broke the magical 90% barrier with a score of 90.080%, securing second place. “I’m so impressed by the show and the atmosphere here,” Werth said afterwards. “This event has everything – sport and breeding, young, and experienced horses. The atmosphere was electric when I entered the arena today, and I really enjoyed it.” ...
