Mrs M.I.J. (Marieke) Toonders is taking a position in the General Board of the KWPN starting September 1. She succeeds Egbert Schep, who is resigning having served the maximum term.

The nomination was made yesterday evening during the extra Members' Council meeting by the Confidential Committee, consisting of Monica van Ruitenbeek-Kossen, Gert Koers, and Marie-Louise Moerings. Marieke Toonders is a strong administrator with a lot of experience and an extensive network in terms of the agricultural sector, and specifically the equestrian sector. In addition to her very accessible and friendly character, Marieke Toonders will be capable of taking the interests of the members into account in a thorough manner in the formulation of policy from the board. She also has a lot of involvement with the KWPN where she has fulfilled various functions. Additionally, she is active as a breeder of both jumper and dressage horses. Marieke Toonders can make an important contribution with her background and expertise, especially to strengthen the contacts with the members, member interests, and policymaking in the field of horse welfare.

Marieke Toonders stated; “I look forward to further shaping the policy of the KWPN and expanding the current position together with the four other members of the General Board. In doing so, I endorse the interests of the members. Member involvement and member loyalty are an important foundation for making our breeding organization strong and future-proof. After all, we are dealing with a rapidly developing global breeding and sports world in which the KWPN horse comes first. The fact that the KWPN is an association of and for its members appeals to me very much, and I would very much like to contribute to that."
