The Selle Français bred stallion Quansas des Ivernons (Dollar dela Pierre - Cybis AA x Iago C, breeder: Laurence Commeau) presents a very interesting bloodline alternative, coming from a top French stallion – Dollar dela Pierre/aka Tlaloc M/aka Tlaloc La Silla (Quidam de Revel - Loripierre x Foudre de Guerre who was bred by Michel Herbeau.
Dollar dela Pierre was a member of the iconic French quartet of four stallions that won team showjumping gold at the 2002 World Equetrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera. From half sister Kamtchatka (Le Tôt de Semilly) comes Orient Express (Quick Star) – one of the four best horses from WEG in Caen 2014. While damsire Iago C is the sire of, for example, Cook Cook du Midour AA with whom Alexandra Ledermann finished third in the coveted Aachen Grand Prix in 2000.
Up until 2016, Swiss international Urs Fäh competed with Quansas des Ivernons at 1m60 level, and recalls; “Quansas des Ivernons is a very intelligent stallion. In everything, it is a part of his character and it showed when we were competing. Another of his outstanding qualities is his willingness to perform. He is also very careful in jumping. On top of that his qualities were his amount of blood and his scope. He was very sound throughout his jumping career.
“Quansas des Ivernons only covered until the age of six, and after that he concentrated on sport. I received two or three videos of his offspring that looked good. I heard, but I am not sure if it’s true, that Michael Whitaker purchased one of his offspring. I have a lot of good memories of this stallion. He was always giving his best in trying to stay clear. We had many shows where he only had clear rounds. He was a unique horse. I hope he will get many mares at the Marbach State Stud. He really deserves it.”
Beginner’s luck
Cybis AA, the dam of Quansas des Ivernons, was bred by Muriel Teilhiet Minchella, who recalls; “I bought the Thoroughbred mare Gravelotte xx, who had done steeplechasing, from a big Thoroughbred stud farm. They sold her to me because they couldn’t get her in foal. She was beautiful and I purchased her mainly for leisure. I put Gravelotte xx in foal a few years after sending her to some people I knew near Limoges. They were breeding foals by Iago C, so I used this stallion who had a very good production...
