Bern’s Swiss stallion show

1561

SWITZERLAND (by Helga Eppler) Numerous interested breeders attending the traditional Swiss Stallion Show at the National Horse Centre of Bern on January 17, had a great choice of stallions from 11 different studbooks with best origins and blood lines. Surprisingly, only three Swiss-bred sires were presented.

The three Swiss Bred sires are out of best jumping pedigrees and already competing successfully in small classes, including the four- year-old Kalysso CH (Karondo von Schlösslihof CH - Ulyssa CH x Ulyssa de Thurin). His sire Karondo (Karacondo - Caletta von Schlösslihof x Corleone) was World Champion of sires at Zangesheide and competed successfully at international level. His dam, the elite mare Ulyssa, competed at high level as well, while his dam’s sire, Ulysse de Thurin (Grand Veneur - Harmonie de Thurin x Quastor) has best results in international competition.

The six-year-old Heartbeat E.S. CH/ex Breakdance von Gurbrü (Heartbreaker - Laurora x Dubeaux De- loupe) was a foal champion, qualified for the CH championships as a four- and five- year-old, and has best placings in youngster classes. His sire is by the famous showjumper Nimmerdor, while his dam’s sire Debeaux Deloupe is a paternal grandson of Galoubet A – sire of the legendary Baloubet du Rouet.

The third Swiss-bred stal- lion, Goldfever HvB CH (Galant Normand - Komtesse x Wandango), is a six-year-old too. He quali- fied for the CH championships as a four-year-old and became champion one year later. He has best SF jumping blood by his sire Galant Normand (Thurin x Elf III) as well as best KWPN performance ancestry from his dam’s sire Wandango (Legaat - Kitty Irene x Equa- tor).
