Diamant’s influence during BWP selection

1877

BELGIUM (by Jo de Roo) The second phase of the BWP stallion expertise was held from January 22-24, taking place for the first time at the ‘Azelhof’ equestrian centre. A brilliant infrastructure, many spectators, outstanding showjumpers and a well-organised stallion expertise and auction could be concluded following this 2015 edition.

Compared to previous years, BWP’s programme change was a major improvement. In total 45 of the 97 inscribed stallions were selected to participate in the third phase that will take place March 19- 21 in ‘Zilveren Spoor’, Moorsele. We counted four stallions in the ‘option dres- sage’ and 41 in the ‘option showjumping’, including 27 of the latter that are BWP bred, while the remaining 14 candidates represent other studbooks.

The influence of Diamant de Semilly

When we analyze the pedigrees of selected candidates in the ‘option showjumping’ there is no doubting Diamant de Semilly’s great influence as a progenitor. The Selle Français stallion currently occupies third place in the most recent WBFSH sire ranking. Three Diamant sons were selected for the third phase:

• Matisse de Mariposa (out of Inabelle de Mariposa x Stakkato, out of the same dam line as Flora de Mari- posa) bred by Herman De Brabander;

• Mumbai van de Moerhoeve (out of Ischgl de Muze x Nabab de Rêve). Mumbai’s granddam is Eureka van ‘t Roosakker/aka VDL Groep Eureka, who is performing at international five-star level under the saddle of Maikel Van Der Vleuten (NED). Mumbai was bred by De Moerhoeve BVBA;

• Danger Civil VH Lindenhof Z (out of Saskia x Silvio I) bred by Jean-Pierre Bosch.
