Window on the world for Friesian horses at Aachen 2022

Friesian horses will be the showstoppers of the 2022 CHIO Aachen show programme. On Tuesday evening June 28, a dozen Friesian horses will provide a crowd-pleasing demonstration during the opening ceremony.

Also dubbed the Wimbledon of equestrian sport, CHIO Aachen is a major international event with a world-class reputation, and will run until July 3, 2022. Invited to appear alongside some of the world’s top dressage and showjumping riders, the Friesian horses will also have the opportunity to strut their stuff: “It’s a fine chance to put our Friesian horses in the spotlight,” said Susan Wind, who is part of the organising team together with Sybren Minkema and Jolanda Schreuder. “We also presented a show with Friesian horses in 2017, together with the Fryske Quadrille (see photo below). That was a huge success and a memorable experience.”

Flag parade and show with Cie des Quidams

The Friesian horses left for Aachen on June 26, allowing plenty of time to gear up for the show programme. The flag parade during the opening ceremony will be followed – after dark – by a joint performance featuring Friesians alongside the French show group Cie des Quidams, which uses 3m50 inflatable white horses – which will make a fantastic spectacle alongside the black Friesian pearls...
