FRANCE (by Eric Fournier) Working and winning together is not unusual as the winning riders of the six-year-old French finals in Fontainebleau (males and mares), Sebastien and Alexa, are also partners in both life and sport.

Sebastien Tence is a well known professional based close to Ste Mère Eglise in the very heart of the Manche department. A few kilometers down the road, his wife, Alexa Hinard, shares the same professional profile and is the daughter of Alain Hinard, one of the most dynamic Norman promtors of Selle Français sport horses.

Tence’s stallion Ascot des Ifs (2010: Quick Star - Sissi des Ifs x Ohio van de Paden- borre), ironically BWP-registered, has been permanently in the spot- light since he started to jump at the age of three. Ascot is, in fact, descended from the internationally successful stallion Paladin des Ifs – French CSIO team with Jean-Louis Roudaut during the 1990s. But Claude and Jean-Louis Pin- teaux, who bred Ascot, have always favoured a light career in the ‘cycle classique’, fielding the constant flow of offers from French and foreign specialists that became more insistent following his Fontainebleau success...
