For many years now, the KWPN has organized online foal auctions during the summer, and this year will be no exception as the studbook will help its breeders with the sale of their foals. However, given the success of recent years, and the current corona crisis, it has been decided to start these online foal auctions earlier than normal, which will facilitate the organization of more such events.
The KWPN has many years of experience with online auctions and has, therefore, built up a large international audience of buyers. Following the same format as last year, every collection will appear online on a Monday, with bids opening the following Friday, with the auction closing on Monday at 8:00 (Netherlands time).
The very first KWPN Online Foal Auction of 2020 is scheduled for Monday July 6, so the collection which will be available on Monday June 29 can be viewed on the auction website www.kwpn.auction
All auction dates:
- June 29 collection online, closing auction Monday July 6
- August 3 collection online, closing auction Monday August 10
- August 17 collection online, closing auction Monday August 24
- September 7 collection online, closing auction Monday September 14
- September 21 collection online, closing auction Monday September 28
- October 5 collection online, closing auction Monday October 12
Service and convenience
Nothing has changed from last year's efficient concept of making it easy for breeders to join the auctions; they only have to leave home once with the mare and foal. During the photo and video day, the foal is assessed by a KWPN inspector on exterior and in movement, and clinically inspected by a vet. The veterinary report for each foal will be published on the auction website and potential buyers can obtain more information from the inspector by phone.
The KWPN considers it important to support both buyer and seller as much as possible. In collaboration with our sponsor Horses2Fly it will be possible to organize the transport of the sold foal abroad. The KWPN Online Broodmare and Embryo Auction has used this several times on behalf of various foreign buyers. A nice extension of the service, especially because more than half of the foals sold went abroad last year.
