After a successful first edition last year, the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch organised the second online auction in cooperation with the Zhashkiv Stud in the Ukraine when 32 youngsters bred at this studfarm were offered for sale.  They are all closely related to the star sire Cornet Obolensky, who is also based in the Ukraine.

The 20 stallions and 12 mares aroused great interest among international customers, and with a total turnover of €440,500, all the two-and-a-half-year-olds on offer were successfully sold. On average, customers invested €13,766 in their future showjumping prospects, and around one-third of the horses were knocked down for more than €15,000.

Customers outside of Germany showed great interest in the auction collection, with 75% of the horses going to 12 different countries. This youngster collection was especially well received by customers in the east, with six youngsters remaining in the Ukraine, while four will travel to Iran and three to Uzbekistan.

The Cornet Obolensky daughter Cathleen created the most enthusiasm.  Her dam, Verb.Pr.St. Diamond (Diarado), is the half-sister to Conthargos, and 15 parties bid for this grey mare. Finally, at the 39th bid, the virtual hammer fell in favour of German clients at €26,000.

Among the 20 stallions, head number one, Abercrombie, also attracted the highest price. jThe son of Air Jordan x Cornet Obolensky descends from Holstein line 1333, which has already produced several successful showjumpers. The grey stallion sold for €24,000 to customers from Russia.
