The ninth edition of the AES Stallion Grading Poland took place on January 24/25, 2024, just like in previous years, at the Salio Equestrian Resort just outside the city of Lodz, in the central part of Poland.

Super champion 3yo Raas R (KWPN) alongside (l-r) Kalnikow Stud team member Katarzyna Pekaniec-Gruszka, Jozef Pekaniec, Bernard Demets, Joanna Rosicka-Tyszko from AES Poland, Eva Maria Broomer, Joris Van den Oetelar, Robbert Ehrens

It brought together some 60 showjumping, eventing, and dressage stallions, and this year the judging committee included multinational experts: Eva Maria Broomer, vice president of the WBFSH; Joris van den Oetelaar, director of AES; as well as Lucy Simpson, an experienced judge specializing in linear evaluation who runs Ladykirk House Stables in Scotland. They were joined by Bernard Demets and Robert Ehrens – an experienced breeder, trainer, and multiple World Cup Final participant who runs Stal Ehrens together with his father.
Thirty-seven horses born in 2020 and 2021 were evaluated on the first day, starting with the presentation of all stallions in hand, followed by free jumping in the case of eventers and showjumpers, and free movement for those dressage stallions born in 2021. The second day of the AES Grading was dedicated to stallions born in 2020 and older in all categories, the started with the presentation in-hand and then under saddle.

I didn’t expect such recognition at this AES Stallion Grading. The horse has continued to progress, and he’s now grown and matured. I hope he will make a good contribution to breeding in Poland and help it reach the standards set by the worldwide breeding of showjumpers... To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
