GERMANY (by Helga Eppler) The Southern German Breeding Association (SGA) hosts a brilliant annual showcase during the renowned German Masters horse show in Stuttgart, this year celebrating its 30th anniversary. Like last year, a master stallion title was awarded and colt candidates were presented for the forthcoming January licensing in Munich.

During the first evening’s entertaining show which played to a full house, the master stallion title was awarded to the Escudo I son, Embassy II (2001). This Hanoverian is not only a most successful approved stallion, but also one of the best German-bred showjumping horses.

His sire, Escudo I was a stallion performance test winner, vice Federal champion and a successful S-level showjumper. In 2009 Escudo I was awarded as Hannoverian stallion of the year. Embassy’s dam, state premium mare Sammy Jo, was awarded several times as she competed successfully in showjumping up to M level. Dam’s sire Silvio I produced numerous licensed sons and international showjumpers of which Shutterfly with Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum played a dominant role in equestrian sport worldwide.
