The German Sport Horse (DSP) successfully opened its 2024 foal auction season during a great Whitsun tournament ‘Winterlingen Winners’, which saw multiple premieres during the event, and especially the auction evening of May 18.

The first premiere was the auction’s location at licensing commissioner Andy Witzemann’s facility and, secondly, the auction platform collaboration with Clipmyhorse.tv. Both were successful despite sometimes adverse weather conditions.
The most sought-after offering in the collection was Kentucky for whom Hendrik Schulze Rückamp’s auction hammer fell at €32,000. The well-pedigreed son of Kashmir van het Schuttershof x Carthago comes from the breeding of Dr. Wolf-Dieter Wagner, and was presented by owner Uwe Eberhardt, Giengen. The foal’s dam alone has produced no fewer than 18 offspring up to 1m55 level, some being internationally successful. The proud new owner of this breeding rarity is Haus Tebbel in Emsbüren.
The Steurer-Collee stable also won two bids, including a daughter of Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Diamant de Semilly who was fiercely contested. The typical filly, bred and exhibited by Michael Franke, Altmärkische Höhe, comes from a dam line with numerous 1m50/1m60 sport horses, and the auction hammer fell at €17,000.
Cerberus, a son of Contagio out of a dam by Stolzenberg, bred and exhibited by Alwin Strohmaier (Bad Dürrheim), sold for €9,250 to a successful sports stable. The buyers were convinced by the dam line full of successful 1m50 and 1m60m horses, including Chica’s Way.
Shopping at DSP for the first time in 2023 and now enthusiastic fans are Simone and Thomas Weißbrod. Together with showjumper Benjamin Wulschner, they acquired a daughter of Diaron out of a dam by Quick Star bred by Alfred Kohn (Vierherrenborn) for €11,000. Simone Weißbrod also secured the daughter of Chaccothage Blue PS x Cartani bred by Markus Geng, Alleshausen, for €8,500. Other competing riders crowned their tournament visit with a DSP hope for the future, including the Bachl stallion station.
In conclusion, auction manager Fritz Fleischmann said; “Our carefully put together lot aroused great desire among sport riders. The exhibitors were able to enjoy good prices. The start of the 2024 season couldn’t have gone better.”.. To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
