He has arrived at the very top of the international showjumping scene: the Holsteiner Verband stallion Zuccero HV (Zirocco Blue x Caretino) under the saddle of brilliant Swedish showjumper Rolf-Göran Bengtsson.

At his Word Cup premiere in Leipzig in mid-January, the reigning European team champion of Milan demonstrated brilliant form, jumping clear throughout and finishing sixth in the Grand Prix on Sunday with his Swedish rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. Moreover, he is often referred to as a “natural jumper” – Zuccero being one of the very few horses who perform in the showjumping arena without hind leg protection. “His jumping quality is exceptional, he is as special for the way he jumps, his trajectory and his ability, as for his courage, his natural carefulness and his excellent sport horse attitude,” Rolf-Göran Bengtsson says about Zuccero’s merits.
This son of Zirocco Blue was born at Hanno Köhncke’s in Badendorf just outside the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. At the most recent Holsteiner stallion grading at Elmshorn, Zuccero had another son licensed for breeding, Zander (out of a Canto dam)... To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
