One of the highlights of the Holsteiner Horse Days is attracting a trade audience to Elmshorn for the traditional Holsteiner Association Mare Show. This year saw young mares present themselves in the five rings of the Herbert-Blöcker-Platz.
The commission for mares, consisting of Stephan Haarhoff (breeding director), Deike Ahsbahs, Hermann Blohm, and external reporter Ulrich Hahne, declared Pippi-Lotta (Cascadello I x Ibisco xx), bred and owned by Kirsten Roll, from Struvenhütten, the winning jumping mare.
According to Stephan Haarhoff, the three-year-old presented herself with “ultra-modernity and three outstanding basic gaits.” He also particularly emphasized her perfect carriage, her excellent hooves, and her correct foundation. Pippi-Lotta represents the Holsteiner line 223B. Her mother, Carlotta, herself once reserve champion mare in Elmshorn, is a half-sister to the internationally successful eventing horses Easy Turn (Shane Rose/USA) and fischerIncantas (Michael Jung/GER).
Papagena (Chinchero x Unlimited), bred and owned by Avora Pferde GmbH & Co. GmbH from Welmbüttel, secured the first reserve champion title. The three-year-old mare from line 8755 impressed from the outset. She left her registration place as the winner, and Papagena completed the mare test with a score of 8.93. Stephan Haarhoff described her as an “uphill horse in wonderful form.”
Peaches I (Cascadello I x Aljano), bred and owned by Ina Schmaußer from Amberg, took the second reserve champion title. The representative of line 242 particularly impressed the commission with her tremendous power and large frame. “A true Holsteiner horse,” said Stephan Haarhoff. Congratulations also go to Roland Metzler, who was also responsible for the training of the three top-placed mares.
Champion dressage mare Pia-Lotta
“What a horse,” said Stephan Haarhoff about the new dressage champion mare, Pia-Lotta (Va Bene x Ampère), bred by Thomas Horns from Bredenbekshorst. The performance-tested three-year-old from line 4847 travelled to Elmshorn with a very good (9.1) mare test under her belt. “A mare with the typical Holstein knee action and a great deal of body harmony,” said the breeding manager, describing the champion mare, who, like the jumping champion, comes from the Segeberg licensing district.
Pioretta (For Romance x Krack C), bred by Gerd Ohlsen (Oevenum-Föhr), is the dressage reserve champion. The mare, also a performance-tested mare, is said to possess a great deal of dynamic energy and a good basic swing. Lorenz Momsen from Emmelsbüll owns this representative of the dam line 104A...
