Ascension weekend is just around the corner, and international equestrian sports are looking north. Because when the 94th German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby is held in Hamburg-Klein Flottbek, the elite will come to the Hanseatic city to compete. And for several years now, the Holsteiner Verband has also been part of this highlight – on Thursday afternoon, 14 top-class Holsteiner foals will be auctioned on the venerable lawn.
Their pedigrees read like a who's who of showjumping. Take, for example, catalog number 5, Diamanfino KNT by Diamant de Semilly x Baloubet du Rouet. This colt not only combines world champions and World Cup winners as sires and damsires, but also pays special attention to the mare line with the number 318D2. Licensed 1m60 jumpers such as Corofino I and II, as well as Judy Ann Melchior's unforgettable Coriano and Toni Hassmann's Cabrio, descend from this direct dam line. Also eye-catching is catalog number 13, Tiva by Clarimo x Caretino from the important dam line 18A2. The dam of this offering is herself tested in sport up to 1m45, and with horses such as Z Diamanty (Keean White/CAN) and Barcadi FZ (Nico Lupino/ITA), Tiva boasts highly successful relatives. Through his third dam, Heroine de Muze, catalog number 6, Pegaus by Pegase van't Ruytershof x Origi d'O, descends from the famous Querly Chin. With this black-brown colt, an offering with international genetics has made it into the collection of this year's Holsteiner Verband Derby Auction.
There will be 14 opportunities on Thursday, May 29, at 4:15 p.m. (CET) following the Hamburg Championships. The foals will be presented to the public for the first time at 12:20 p.m.
All foals, including photos, videos, and family traits, can be viewed online at www.holsteiner.auction. Felix Flinzer (0162-3493942) will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the foals or the auction.
