Highest auction prices of the year go to Florida

As we approach the end of the first three months of this year's auctions, Florida tops out the tables with the biggest sales.

The WEF Sport Horse Auction, featuring VDL stud, netted a total of €2,632,395 from just 15 sales, an average price of €175,493 per sale. Highest price of the day went to Arezzo Z gelding VDL Lightfeet who fetched €538,280 . Arezzo VDL sired a total of three sales with an average price of €298,000. These sales contributed heavily to Arezzo Z topping the current rankings as the most valuable sire of the completed auctions with sales of €919,510

The WEF auction is closely followed by The World Sport Horse sales at Ocala, Florida where just 14 sales had a total value of €2,435,000. Highest price in Ocala went to Masseltof, a Baltic VDL gelding whose price had reached €4382,430 when the hammer fell.

Behind Arezzo VDL in leading the overall rankings is Daimant de Semilly whose 13 sales have netted €664,150 (an average of €183,902 per sale) with Dominator 2000 Z in third place €645,240.

Chacco-Blue has sired the most sales with 36 to date, although 30 of these were sales of embryos, by far the most of all stallions in the rankings.
