The Trakehner Association and the Trakehner Tournaments' Association (TTG) has decided that a Trakehner show will go ahead this summer, albeit using a different format than the popular federal tournament in Hanover, and taking into account the short-term mandated coronavirus requirements. The 2020 Trakehner Young Horse Championships will take place during the weekend of July 25-26 at the Westphalian Horse Centre in Münster-Handorf.
As previous years, all the usual classes will take place, as well as the Trakehner foal auction for the 2020 vintage under the hammer of auctioneer Thomas Münch. Photos, videos and full information for the foals will be posted ahead of the event, and an online bidding process will also be in place with live streaming.
The organizers, the board members of the Trakehner Association and the Trakehner tournament sports community have been in intensive planning for weeks, and decided that the traditional 2020 show in Hanover was not feasible due to current coronavirus restrictions, as well as the infrastructure costs for a reduced program for young horses. Taking into account a viable hygiene concept, all the proper measure will be place at the Westphalian Horse Centre, which will later host the Westphalia Week.
The Trakehner Young Horse Championships 2020 exceptionally replaces the larger Trakehner Summer Festival in Hanover due to the extensive pandemic regulations in place. The goal of organizers is to meet again for the 2021 federal tournament in the equestrian stadium in Lower Saxony's state capital.
