The current Grand Prix leader is the NZ Warmblood gelding Windermere J’Obei W (Johnson NOP - Miss Pompeii xx x Pompeii xx). Bred by David Woolley and ridden by Melissa Galloway, he has been virtually unbeatable for the past few seasons.
In second place is a 17-year-old Hanoverian, Raukura Satori MH (De Niro - Grand Gift x Genius), bred by Judith Matthews of Matthews Hanoverians, owned by Rosemary Carter, and ridden by William Millar.
Both the top horses at Level 8 have Anamour as their damsire – a reflection of the enormous influence he had on sport horse breeding in NZ. At the head of the rankings is the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding Don Vito MH (Don Frederico - Adelheid), bred by Matthews Hanoverians and owned and ridden by Wendi Williamson. In second place is another by Johnson, the NZ Warmblood gelding Jax Johnson (Johnson - A La Mode), bred by David Woolley, and owned and ridden by Gaylene Lennard.
Level 7 is headed by Felix Westfalia FE (Franziskus - Laetitia x Laurentianer), a nine-year-old Westfalian bred by Winifred Albers. Bon Jovi MH (Bonifatius - Welkantje x Weltmeyer), bred by Matthews Hanoverians and owned and ridden by Wendi Williamson, is in second place.
And a quick look at the babies: Level 1 is headed by the exceptional four-year-old NZ Warmblood Feuer Tanz (HP Fresco - Astek Gymkala x Gymnastik Star), bred by Gillian Booth, owned by Linda Budden and Julie Brougham, and ridden by Rochelle Speirs. Another horse whose damsire is Anamour, Fernlea Don Reveille (Donnerubin DC - Anarose) is second. He is a five-year-old New Zealand Warmblood, bred by Lorraine Ward-Smith and Fernlea Stud, and owned by Lynette Wood. He is ridden by his breeder.
The leading Novice (Level 2) horse is Dance Hit SW (Danciano - Rosari Sable Hit x Sandro Hit), a five-year-old Hanoverian gelding bred by Sterling Warmbloods, owned by Susan Tomlin and Andrea Raves, and ridden by Susan Tomlin. Frieden Star (Fidertanz - Remi Royal Star x Remi Wolkenstar), also a five-year-old Hanoverian gelding, is in second spot on the League rankings.
