We are incredibly proud of the many talented AES breeders who came forward in 2024 presenting their foals and youngster for evaluation at the British Breeding Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity.

It was wonderful to see such quality and commitment and to welcome new friends every year, as well as catch up with known faces and long-term supporters. We could not do this without you. It is therefore a real treat to catch up with some of our top breeders this year and hear about their experiences.

Continuing success in showjumping breeding

Among our many exciting showjumping breeders we are delighted to have Amelia Hope Waterhouse, a real star for the future. Amelia is a young breeder with big ambitions and the strategy and determination it takes to get to the very top. She also represented our studbook at the WBFSH International Young Breeders World Championships 2024 in Denmark, where she came eighth in the individual rankings; a fantastic achievement given that this was her first time and she managed to beat a strong field of highly experienced competitors.

Future Icy Pleasure – bred by Julia Hodkin at Future Sport Horses

Amelia achieved the incredible accolade of having bred the highest scoring Futurity entry of the entire 2024 series, across all ages, disciplines, and studbooks in Hope House Dark and Stormy (Numero Uno - Milton Mojito x Argento) who gained a fantastic score of 9.35. She also achieved another Futurity Elite with Hope House Mimosa (Utamaro d’Ecaussines Z x Mjirina M x Entertainer) who impressed with a lovely score of 9.05, ending up ranked 17th overall. Her success is no coincidence, but the result of meticulous research and planning:
“I’m absolutely delighted with the success of both of my foals in this year’s British Breeding Futurity, with the highlight of course being our superstar Hope House Dark and Stormy. I put a lot of emphasis on using linear scoring and genetic profiling to assess both the conformation and movement of my mares and the stallions I pair them with in order to produce the best equine athletes possible. This year’s results just go to show that in depth evaluation of each horse paired with the natural talents of both dam and stallion produce near perfect results. As a competitive rider myself, horses with correct movement and conformation that can perform to the best of their ability and also have the long and healthy careers is what every breeder should be striving for.”..
