GERMANY (by Rhegan White) The Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch stallion licensing took place November 24-26 at the Westphalian Horse Center in Munster-Handorf. Many breeders and blood stock enthusiasts attended the event to watch the presentation of over 70 stallions born in 2012 to the licensing panel.

A total of 39 stallions received approval, and of those 14 were awarded premium stallion titles. New this year was the establishment of two end rings for the dressage and showjumping stallions. The undisputed champion stallion within the dressage stallions candidates was Borsalino, a son of KWPN Boston (Jazz - Sebora x Flemmingh) from the Fidermark I dam, Wildfee, \ bred by Johann and Katja Schmid of Hallbergmoos. The movement and expres- sive paces of this impressive stallion were so outstanding that in the subsequent auction for licensed and non-licensed stallions Borsalino sold for €710,000 ($883,134) to a syndicate in Rhineland and Lower Saxony.

The reserve champion dressage honor awarded by the five members of the judging panel went to Villeneuve, a Vitalis x Dancier (De Niro - Lacarna x Lancier) son bred by Edeltraud Hähn. This impressive candidate saw the hammer go down at €270,000 ($335,840) and was bought by Austrian Sissy Max-Theurer.

The second reser ve dres- sage champion was bred by Mr. Wilhelm Holkenbrink of Munster-Albachten. Formula One is a son of Francis x Cornet Fever (Cornet Obolensky - Granny Smith x Grand Ferdinand II) who was purchased by Claudia Schaucan from Zurich...
