GERMANY (by Jean Llewellyn/press release) A filly upstaged the riding horses at the Verden Auction in May, when Vanellope sold at €62,000 whereas the 36 riding horses achieved an average auction sales price of €15,361! Before the auction began Vanellope was favourite to fetch the highest price.
The Vitalis x Don Romantic- daughter – bred and exhibited by Gerda Stein – is an eagerly moving chestnut mare who became a star at the photo and video shooting. Each bid was celebrated during the thrilling auction until auctioneer Bernd Hickert finally accepted the bid of €62,000 of a Lower Saxonian horse raiser. Ironically, Vanellope was the first of the foal collection to be presented. Overall, the foals sold at an average price of €6,975.
The collection of riding horses featured a variety of horses for different demands. Monsieur Lazhar (Metall - Wellnes x Wel- truhm, bred and exhibited by Hedy Lynen, Unna) became the top-priced dressage horse. Excellent to ride, the bay was described in the catalogue as a compact dressage horse with nobility, and providing good basic gaits that enhance the overall body rhythm.
