FRANCE (by Jade Mathieu) The ASFMP (Association Selle Français Midi Pyrénées), and its president Jean- Paul Régis, welcomed breeders and visitors during the first SF qualifying series in Saint-Etienne-de-Tulmont. Forty participants attended, but were not helped by the very wet day. Several stud farms were represented by two horses: Malpas Stud/Bernard Jodet; La Chénée/Eric Herdt; La Brune stud/Nathalie Soubeyre; Medelin stud/Manon Lile; Haras HB/Virginie Garrigue – the latter with its palomino dressage horses.

In the first group for three- year-old CSO males, first place went to Expresso SF son of the Selle Français ‘Originel’, Quickly de Kreisker, SF ISO 183, out of Si Vive SF (Ultimo Van Ter Moude). Bred by the Jouetard stud farm owned by Patrick Sisqueille in Castra Verdzan, Expresso SF was awarded 15.83 marks having showed energetic and regu- lar gaits over the fences. His second dam, O’Vive, produced Trouble Fête, ICC 148, as well as Upsilon, ICC 165, the great French eventing champion of the four-, five- and six-year-old categories. He was also world and French vice champion at the age of seven and is now showing all his talent with French eventing rider Thomas Carlile, winning the 2016 Blenheim CIC3*.

Espoir de Chénée SF, born at La Chénée stud of Eric Herdt, took second place. This bay male is by Consul DL Vie Z and Victoire de la Chenée SF (Diamant de Semilly). His second dam, Kadjanine de Chénée SF produced Udiam de la Chénée SF, 132. In his mother line, we also find Nacelle IV SF, who produced eight offspring, out of whom seven were ISO 145. Espoir de Chénée was awarded the best score for breeding characterists (15.90), for a final tally of 15.46.

Envinergy de Siju SF, by Dela Pierre SF and Mirza Des Vaux SF (Apache d’Adriers SF) finished third. He was born at the Siju stud farm owned by Isabelle Barthe. BARTHE. His sire, Dollar de la pierre SF ISO 177, produced Rebozo La Silla who finished fourth at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY. He also produced Incas de l’Oasis ISO 175...
