The exceptional sire Cornet Obolensky is still high in demand when 36 youngsters from the Zhashkiv Stud in the Ukraine were recently sold during the Westfalian Online Auction – when almost all the lots could be traced back to the successful grey stallion.

At an average price of €10,632, 34 of the horses on offer changed hands, with direct sons of Cornet Obolensky/ex Windows van het Costersveld being especially popular, including price topper Chuck Norris who went under the hammer for €29,000.
It was the fifth time that the Westfalian Studbook had auctioned youngsters in an online auction on behalf of the Ukrainian Zhashkiv Stud, which owns the legendary showjumpig sire Cornet Obolensky and his son Comme il faut NRW.
The 36 young talents offered for sale were born and raised in the Ukraine for future competitive showjumping careers, with virtually all of them being direct descendants of Marco Kutscher’s highly successful partner. Overall, 95% of the presented horses changed hands for an average price of €10,632, with 15 travelling to new homes in Germany for further training, and around half remaining in the Ukraine. 95 percent of the horses on offer changed hands at an average price of 10,632 euros. Direct sons of Cornet Obolensky are certainly retaing their poplarity, especially with international customers, and interested bidders had to wait for some time before the top price appeared on their screens: head number 27, Chuck Norris.
He was bred out of the Verb.Pr.St. Colini Tachor (Heartbreaker), who also produced another son of Cornet Obolensky, the gelding Cornet Cristo, who is now successful in international showjumping competitions with German Anna Trefzger, although his career began in Poland with Jacek Zagor (up to 1m45), then moved to Germany where he first competed in Junior category with Leonie Gruber.
