This annual event saw 23 stallion services sold during the first round of the auction, when bidding begins at 50% of the advertised breeding rate. Any stallion not sold in the frst round progresses to a second round, which features a buy-now option at 70% of the advertised rate.

Run from February 16 to 21, it also included a number of non semen items, that proved to be very popular. Among these were certificates for veterinary services from some of the best equine reproduction clinics in Canada.
The top-selling stallion service was for the nine-year-old Confidento, a Hanoverian stallion owned and imported by the Confidento Partnership. Standing at Sigma Warmbloods in Alberta, and in only his second year, his first foal crop is already populating the CWHBA studbook. Confidento is by the well known Contendro (Contender) and out of a dam by Embassy (Escudo I) and a granddam by Don Juan. This breeding represents some of the best jumping lines that the Hanoverian studbook has to offer, within which a litany of success can be found, including the fact that his sire Contendro was the leading eventing sire from 2015 to 2019.
Associated with the SSA is the CWHBA Foal Futurity, into which each happy bidder and the stallion owner will gain free entry into the 2024 Futurity, and an opportunity to win back a percentage of the SSA proceeds.
Confidento’s stable mate, Rock My Soul WF, an 11-year-old Westfalian stallion by Rock For Ever and out of a Fürst Heinrich dam was the second high seller.
