The Hanoverian ‘B’ line boom continues to gain traction, with the release of latest numbers of stallion coverings in Denmark. The most popular stallion in 2022 was Blue Hors Baron (Benicio x Sir Donnerhall I x Friedensfürst) who covered 146 mares in Denmark along. Interestingly Baron's great great granddam, Black Beauty is by Black Sky xx, the sire of Bolero.
The second most popular stallion, is another Hanoverian son of Benicio, Be Sure, who is out of a mare by the Sir Donnerhall son Scuderia, out of a Lauries Crusador mare. He covered 145 mares...

Blue Hors Baron
Blue Hors Baron, born 2013, 170 cms, bred by Albrecht Middelkampf, Germany.
At the age of nine, Baron is already the sire of seven approved stallions. His most successful foal so far has been the mare Bonsai, out of a Royal Classic x Wolkentanz II mare. Bonsai was crowned champion mare and ‘Best Mare of the Day’ by the Hanoverian Association at the mare grading in Grindstead, with marks of 9.0 for walk, 9.0 for trot, 10.0 for canter, 9.0 for rideability, and 9.5 by her test rider. Bonsai played a large part in the decision by Blue Hors to purchase Baron, greatly impressing Blue Hors breeding manage, Martin Klavsen and special advisor, Jens Meyer.
I asked Jens what he liked about Baron...
“I saw really good offspring that he had produced, and I know the mother of the stallion so that was another reason. We were looking for an older stallion, one that had a good test. He was already licensed for Denmark.”.. To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
