The magnificent main premium Oldenburg stallion Swarovski (Sandro Hit - St.Pr.St. Herzdame x Don Gregory II) passed away recently in New Zealand following the only bout of colic he’d ever suffered in his life.
He was still a relatively young horse (18), and belonged to WBFSH vice president Renai Hart of River Park Farm in Auckland, who imported him in 2016.
Swarovski was bred in Germany by Gottfried Wessjohann of Cappeln. In 2006, he was the Oldenburg Reserve Champion Stallion and followed this up by winning the dressage championship at his 30-day test in 2007. His first European crop included a number of premium and well-sold auction foals, and he was awarded main premium status at the Oldenburg Hengsttage in 2008.
Swarovski was from Hannover Stutenstamm 2190202, Schridde 325, and licensed for the Hanoverian, Oldenburg, Rheinland and Westfalian studbooks. His first licensed son, Seine Hoheit (Swarovski - Feuerprobe II [Oldbg] x Fürst Heinrich [Westf]), bred by Fiedrich Fick from Buxtehude, was awarded premium status in 2010.
As he arrived only six years ago, Swarovski’s progeny here are still young, but are showing above-average potential. Renai Hart, who was overseas at the time of his death, is currently foaling his latest crop, and does have some young mares by him, including River Park Sienna and River Park Stella Marie.
“It has taken quite a while to come to terms with losing him, and so close to my darling Worldly,” she says.
