Every year the best mares and foals from the regional mare gradings and foal show gather for some joyous days at the National Horse Sport Center Vilhelmsborg to celebrate Danish Warmblood breeding.

This year sport and breeding will come together with WEG 2022; the biggest horse event to ever be hosted on Danish soil in Herning, alongside a two-day Elite Mare and Foal Show.
Tuesday, August 9, will see the presentation of the best jumping and dressage foals from the regional shows where the best filly and colt in each discipline will be named. This will be followed later in the evening by the Elite Foal Auction, where you can secure a foal for top sport or breeding. Before the auction, the trophies for the Best Jumping Breeding Mare and the Best Dressage Breeding Mare will be awarded to their skilled breeders. Another day-one highlight will be the presentation of female families where especially good breeding mares will be presented with more of their offspring.
Thursday, August 11, will see the top mares from this year’s saddle gradings and two-year-olds presented. The best two-year-old dressage mares will be shown at liberty and the jumping mares in loose jumping, followed by awarding the jumping and dressage two-year-old mares of the year. The selected top dressage mares from the saddle gradings will be presented under a rider, and the selected jumping mares in loose jumping. These high-quality mares can potentially be awarded breeding medals of bronze or silver, with gold reserved for the very best. The level of the mares is traditionally very high, and many will be seen in top international sport and/or as mothers of top sport horses or breeding stallions. To name a few, Bøgegårdens Don Romina (mother of, among others, Sezuan, Straight Hors Azencione, and Grand Prix Straight Hors Don Tamino), Fiontini (triple world champion for young horses and now international Grand Prix), Heilines Danciera (number five on the FEI world ranking list), and many more.
The highlight of the event will be the naming of this year’s best jumping and dressage mares as Danish Warmblood is highly successful in producing many up-coming and current top competitions in elite international sport.
