The FEI-WBFSH dressage WBCYH, cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, eventually took place August 25-29, 2021, in Verden, Germany, attracting many riders, breeders, and dressage enthusiasts, as well as new competitors... And an historic first-ever medal for Poland.
Beata Stremler – the acclaimed Polish GP rider and Polish dressage champion in 2011 – qualified for the 2020 finals, and finally made her WBCYH debut with not one, but two interesting horses: The seven-year-old Oldenburg mare Fürstin Bea (Fuerstenball x San Amour), and the six-year-old Hannoverian gelding For Magic Equesta (For Romance - Awiwa x A Jungle Prince x Argentinus), bred by Freidheim Kuhnen and owned by Sylwia Ruta. It was, however, her ride with For Magic Equesta that earned the bronze medal.
The gelding For Magic Equesta is a very interesting combination of dressage and showjumping lines as his dam’s sire – A Jungle Prince is a son of the well-known Hanoverian showjumping stallion Argentinus, while his first dam (Awiwa) was herself a successful dressage horse herself.
According to Beata Stremler, talking about For Romance Equesta: “I started riding him when he was four-and-a-half years old. At the beginning he seemed a bit of a croaker, but in a funny way. I used to compare him to the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland – always very busy and stressed by everything that’s new. At the same time he was adorable and trusting. He trusted me and that helped him jump through his shadow. He also has great character and together we act brave in a dressage arena.
“His trot is the highlight of his gaits. At the Bundeschampionships qualifications we scored 9.50 for that. His walk comes next – it is of good quality, a very good extended walk through the body and collected, very steady in tact. His canter is very practical, and with his broad back he already shows talent for pirouettes.”.. To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
