The SWB Trophy presented by Hyperion was held during the 2024 Gothenburg Horse Show, in Gothenburg, Sweden, where some of Sweden’s top young SWB horses competed – starting with showjumping for five-year-old and six-year-old horses on February 21.
The SWB Trophy is open to horses that have achieved top placements in the Breeders Trophy four- and five-year-old classes the previous autumn. Among the dressage horses seven-year-olds are also welcome. In the Gothenburg Scandinavium arena, the young horses compete at the same level at which they qualified, giving them the opportunity to shine early in the year.
“For the Gothenburg Horse Show it is important to be able to help pave the way for future championship horses. Finding a partner who shares the same view is important,” says Tomas Torgersen, show director at the Gothenburg Horse Show.
Hyperion Stud is the official partner of the Swedish Warmblood Trophy-SWB Trophy, enabling some of Sweden’s top young horses to be showcased in the prestigious Scandinavium Arena during the Gothenburg Horse Show. The American stud farm operates on both sides of the Atlantic and as an official partner to the competition where horses that have achieved top placements during the SWB Equestrian Weeks are invited, Hyperion has secured the SWB Trophy until 2025 in its current form.
Maucca Kärki is Hyperion’s representative in Europe: “The opportunity Hyperion offers for young talented horses to be showcased during the Gothenburg Horse Show is close to the heart. Recognizing talent early on is something we and all breeders constantly have in mind. Here, young horses can be exposed to the big world in a fine setting. Scandinavium is one of many arenas where the young horses of today may compete in top-level sport in a few years.”
Hyperion Stud is an American stud farm focused on international sport horse breeding. The stud farm has horses placed in Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, in addition to farms in both Virginia and Florida, USA. Hyperion not only breeds horses, but also buys and develops horses over time for sale to suitable riders. According to Maucca Kärki, “The driving force behind Hyperion's operation is breeding and sport in perfect harmony; for us, both are equally important.”..
