On Saturday, April 23, 2022, Jaruzyn, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian district of Poland hosted the year’s first breeding event of the Polish Sport Horse Days series. The Jaruzyn Championships are the only Polish sport horse breeding event at the start of the new season.
The judging committee this year comprised the Polish judges: Marlena Gruca-Rucinska, Agnieszka Zielinska, plus Henryk Sobon and Marcus Hoffrogge from Germany. They evaluated 53 horses born in 2019 and 2020, out of which 42 young mares and stallions represented showjumping lines and 11 were dressage oriented.
Showjumping mares born in 2020
First place: Casablanca in Black PZHK (Fabregas S - Chantal x Caretello B), bred by Wanda Fedec, owned by Kazimierz Szyling, who scored 8.18. Casablanca’s sire, Fabregas S is, so far, the only licensed son of approved stallion Nevados S (Calvados Z - Nestia S x Romualdo [KWPN]), the Olympic bronze medallist from Tokyo 2020 (in 2021). The mare was described by the jury as “modern, elegant, long-lined, with both good jumping technique and strength, as well as a well-balanced canter”.
Second: Silver Columbia Lange PZHK (Columbus Z - Sekunda x Love Affair), bred and owned by Paulina Lange; scored 8.14
Third: Ariana Grande PZHK (Larius Star - Araguaja x Domel), bred and owned by Zenon Brzozowski; scored 7.78
Showjumping stallions and geldings born in 2020
First place went to the stallion Cordial Saludo PZHK (Santos - Calle Z x Calvin Z), bred and owned by Stanislaw Janik; scored 8.36. “A stallion of good type and proportions, harmoniously built, with a good back line, good dynamics and jumping technique,” was how Cordial Saludo was described by the judges.
Second to the stallion Olympic Fly PZHK (Chacfly PS - Obsesja x Quimball), bred and owned by Anna Urban; 8.04.
Third: Kador Impress PZHK (Impressive VDL - Kinola x Global Express), a stallion bred and owned by Marta Kwiatkowska; 8.0.
Showjumping mares born in 2019
First: Kadiavanta PZHK (Diacontinus - Kacavanta VTH x Kannan), bred and owned by Andrzej Putinkowski; 8.54
A mare of a good sport type who presented dynamically and with good quality jumps, which were awarded by the judges with the note of 9.3.
Second: Mon Cheri PZHK (Karbon - Mirta xx x Sorbie Tower xx), bred by Stanislaw Janik and owned by Aleksandra Babiarz; 8.38.
