During the NZ Hanoverian Horse Society 2024 classification tour, some 60 foals and 30 mares were evaluated – with many of the latter being awarded with elite and premium status – as well as two stallions that were considered for licensing.

First stop on the tour was Stoneylea Farm where both foals were awarded premiums: gold to Stoneylea Black Pearl (Furstenball Old - Stoneylea Vitality x Vitalis); and silver to Stoneylea Valerian (Von Und Zu - Stoneylea Welt Princess x Weltmeyer).
Two further premium foals were judged in Pukekohe, at Henton Lodge Hanoverians, both born via ET: An as-yet unnamed foal by Viscount, out of Faberge ET (For Edition) who took the gold medal, and a similarly anonymous bay foal by Contendro I [Holst] out of Cancarra dam, Aunty Annette – silver. Notably, Holsteiner mare Aunty Annette won te Silver Fern Stakes during the 2017 NZ Horse of the Year Show ridden by Helen McNaught-McFarlane, while Henton Lodge’s Faberge is classified as an elite and sport performacnce mare.
There were two well-deserved awards presented at Matthews Hanoverians. Decadence MH (Dacaprio x Anamour x Weltmeyer) is a elite mare, achieved through her mare performance test in 2017 with Dr Ludwig Christmann, where she scored an overall 8.0 and with two 8.0s in the free jumping to take overall top honours as best mare that year. Recognition as a sport performance mare came through her top-level dressage achievements, and she was retired in 2020 after winning Grand Prix Champion at Waitemata Premier League Championships Show ridden by Wendi Williamson. Decadance MH was also NZ Young Dressage Champion in 2014 when ridden by Kaye Ahsam.
Another Matthews Hanoverians mare, Felize MH (Fürstenball x Dancier x Weltmeyer) was also recognized with elite mare status.

Six premium foals were presented by Matthews Hanoverians, including two dressage- and two jumper-bred, with gold premiums awarded to Lacey MH (Le Formidable [KWPN] x De Niro) and Sparkle MH (Secret DSP x Worldly), plus the jumpers (both ET foals) Anton MH (Arezzo VDL x Grosvenor xx) and Celine MH (Chacfly x Grosvenor xx). A further two foals were awarded silver premiums.
Five premium foals bred by David Woolley were similarly awarded: gold for Fortune DW (Florida TN [KWPN] x Revolution), Imagine DW (Indian Rock [KWPN] x Rubin Royal), Joyful DW [Rhein] (Jovian [KWPN] x Rockstar [Westf]), and Jubilant DW (Johnson [KWPN] x Doringcourt). A silver premium was reserved for Delight DW [Rhein] (Desperado x Johnson).
In the Palmerston North, the stallion licensing approved a four-year-old by Secret – very well presented by owner Baldeep Dhillon. It was a similarly successful day for Russell Equine when their entire herd of mares received premium studbook status. Notably, Aloha (Alijano [Holst]) was presented alongside her two daughters: Donneroyale REQ (Donnerubin) and Secrets Kept REQ, (Secret) to record a substantial 8.75 mare-family score. They were bred by Dr. Lucy Russell. A premium was also awarded to Finest Hit REQ (Finest x Solitar Hit [Old] x Ramirez [Holst])... To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
