Handsome, ultra sporty, and climbing the ranks as one of the best sires in the world, HH Conrad (Con Air 7 - Minne I x Locato), whose sporting career with American showjumper Quinten Judge has recently come to an end, will spend the 2022 breeding season at Studfarm Zangersheide.
Bred in Germany by Pferdezucht Witt, HH Conrad was sold as a youngster to Xavier Marie’s Haras de Hus in France, starting his career under the name Conrad de Hus in the hands of Marie's stable jockey, Gilles Botton. Later, Belgium's Grégory Wathelet took over the reins and the pair competed up to the highest level in the international sport. They contributed to team victories in Nations Cup in the Barcelona finale, as well as in Aachen and St. Gallen, the LGCT Grand Prix Chantilly, and also recording wins in Doha and Basel.
HH Conrad's sire, Con Air 7, is also known as the sire of Coach, who jumped at 1m70 with Beezie Madden, and Amanda Derbyshire’s Cornwall BH. On the dam side HH Conrad Z carries the popular blood of Locato and Sacramento Song xx.
More than 20 of HH Conrad's own first crop are jumping at 1m50-1m60 level, including Abdelkebir Ouaddar’s Brooklyn de Hus, Alexandra Thornton’s Blueberry, and Jérôme Guery’s Cambridge de Hus. No fewer than 15 of his sons have already been licensed for breeding by various studbooks.
Judy Ann Melchior for is delighted about the arrival of this bay super star: "A stallion like HH Conrad Z is definitely a valuable addition to our collection. Clearly, I know him very well because he and Grégory were on the same team as me and As Cold as Ice Z when we won the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona with the Belgian Team. So I am terribly pleased to be able to make him available to our breeders with fresh semen in the next year."
