The 2025 Polish Dressage Championships for Young Horses took place from September 24-28 at the Lider Radzionków Riding Club. The event’s new format, enriched by the addition of the Polish Young Horse Cup, resulted in a record number of over 60 young horses competing.
The chief judge for the competition was Marlena Gruca-Rucinska. She was joined on the jury by Patricia Wolters, who judged this year’s dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Verden, Hans-Christian Matthiesen, and Łukasz Walter.
Four-year-old age-group
The category for four year olds with PZHK passports attracted 10 pairs, with the highest reward, the gold medal, going to Giovanni Dream sp (Don Deluxe [Oldbg] - Galicjanka sp x Vittorio sp). The bay gelding was bred and owned by the As Dream Farm of Anna Skrzeszewska-Walter and Łukasz Walter. During the championships, presented by his owner, he impressed with the regularity and lightness of his trot and the breadth of his walk, which was scored 8.0 points from the international panel of judges.
The silver medal in this four-year-old category went to Agitator wlkp/poch. trk. (Peregrine [Trak] - Agitacja wlkp x Hamlet Go [Trak]). This elegant gray stallion, bred and owned by the National Liski Stud Farm, was ridden by Adrian Seliga, a specialist in working with young dressage horses. This elegant grey sire was striking in his lightness at all three basic gaits. His trot was regular and active, and he was distinguished by his free shoulder at the walk and his ample canter.
The bronze medal in this same age group went to Donna Jasmine sp (Heiline’s Zanzier [DWB] - Die Jakson [Bad-Wü] x Dr. Jackson [Bad-Wü]). The black mare was bred by Joanna Szulc and belongs to rider Adrianna Jakóbczak. During the ride, the dynamics of her gallop was assessed at 7.6 points, while the lightness of the trot and the perspective as a dressage horse (7.4 points) were much appreciated.
The Polish Young Horse Cup, for four year olds with foreign passports, featured 17 pairs. The best performance was given to the German-bred Oldenburg stallion Fürstensilber II (Furstenball OLD - Silber Belluna [Oldbg] x Bellissimo M [Rhein]), owned by Weronika Madej. Second place went to the Westfalian gelding Dream Alive Hero (Dynamic Dream [Westf] - Donatella [Hann] x Dante Weltino [Oldbg]). The German-bred black gelding was ridden by Maria Stelmaszyk, and is owned by the Stelmaszyk Marek Farm. Third place was also taken by a German-bred Westfalian, the stallion Ferranti Effect (For Romance I [Oldbg] - Sympathie M [Hann] x Scolari [Hann]), ridden by Łukasz Ziółkowski. The bay stallion’s owner is Ewelina Kwietowicz.
Mares dominate the 5yo age group
In a field of nine five-year-old horses registered with the Polish Horse Breeding Association (PZHK), the gold medal went to Morgen Gold sp (De Niro Gold [Oldbg] - Morgenrot [Trak] x Kostolany [Trak]). The black mare is bred and owned by Tomasz Wójtowicz and was presented by Anna Grygier-Wójtowicz. Morgen Gold stood out with her supple trot with a natural cadence, a relaxed walk, and a well-rounded canter. The judges highly appreciated her suitability for dressage, awarding her a 8.0 point for perspective, the highest score in the competition...
