GERMANY (by Sonja Grob/press release) It was former Birkhof stud stallion Lord Leopold (Lord Sinclair - Fatima x Sandro), who had six offspring at the Baden-Württemberg championship held in Tübingen at the beginning of July.
For the first time, the three- and four-year-old stallions were amalgamated into one class. Arogato, the lovely chestnut offspring of Antango bred by Anja and Josef Riss, was awarded a total of 8.3 for the champion’s title. He is owned by the Riss’s son Matthias. Second was First Date, a son of For Romance (Fürst Ro- mancier - Gesina x Sir Don- nerhall) bred by Martha-Rose Kullen.
Victory for Equidiamonds Damiani
The four-year-old Damon Hill (Donnerhall - Romanze x Rubinstein I) son Equidi- amonds Damiani bred by Frieder Heilemann reached a total of 8.4 for his basic gaits, with 8.5 being awarded for his development. The dark chestnut stallion is a Florestan I grandson out of Florence who grew up with Manfred Berreth in Ellwangen and was presented by his trainer Melanie Mayer. For Mayer this was her first victory and the delight for her and Damiani’s owner, Martin Lehr, was great.
The winner of the final qualification was Benelli, a son of Benicio – based at the Callaho Warmblood stud farm in South Africa, out of a Lord Sinclair daughter, bred by the Stroben breeding collective and owned by Hans-Peter Krause. For his trot and canter the brown Württemberger stallion achieved a 9.0 for a final overall note of 8.3...
