Learning about the farrier’s craft

1

Watch the farrier at work. This opportunity is available to interested visitors at one of the two themed tours on 'Blacksmithing' on August 22 and 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Marbach State Stud Farm.

After an introduction to the diverse work of Germany's oldest state stud farm, the tour continues to the Marbach forge. Here, visitors can expect fascinating stories about the blacksmith's craft, from traditional handcraft to current work at the stud farm. Marbach farrier Kai Maisenbacher will demonstrate his work on site and show how much craftsmanship and precision are still involved in the art of horseshoeing.

The highlight is the live demonstration of horseshoeing. Here, visitors can observe a master of his craft at work and ask questions.
