The 33rd edition of the International Selection Show, the official stallion expertise of the SBS Studbook, will take place from March 5-7, 2021, at the Provincial Breeding and Horse Riding school of Gesves. Due to the current sanitary situation, this year’s edition will take place without an audience, but the event will be broadcasted live on our webpage www.sbsnet.be, on our Facebook page Studbook SBS and also on clipmyhorse.TV.
After several weeks of uncertainty, the SBS Studbook – Royal Belgian Sport Horse Association ASBL – took note of the favorable decision of the provincial and municipal authorities at the beginning of February: the International Selection Show 2021 will take place in Gesves, subject to strict compliance with the health prevention measures that we all know.
The primary condition set by the political leaders is the event's organization behind closed doors, i.e. a face-to-face activity limited to the participants and members of the organization, numbering around 150 people. All precautions will also be taken with regard to equine rhinopneumonitis.
Despite this insecure climate, the preparation work (veterinary selection, engagements, etc.) was carried out with the same rigor and efficiency as in the past, which allowed the release of a special issue of our bimonthly magazine "Le Cheval de Sport belge", which is more complete and includes a central catalog on the expertise of the 2021 stallions. There is every reason to be optimistic: The list of stallion candidates is of very high quality, and the dressage discipline is particularly well represented this year, with 20% of the applicants
The 42 registered stallions, of prestigious origins, includes 34 jumping and eight dressage candidates. Thirty-two stallions are three years of age, seven born in 2017, and three born in 2015. Friday, March 5: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. – warm-up for 3yo and 4yo stallion candidates
Saturday, March 6:
8:30 a.m. Hard-ground presentation for all candidates
11:00 a.m. Conformation movement in-hand for all candidates
1:00 p.m. Presentation under saddle for 6yo candidates
1:30 p.m. Movement at liberty for 3yo and 4yo candidates
5:30 p.m. Jumping/ Test Round for 4yo and 6yo candidates
Followed by announcement of new approved 4yo and 6yo stallions
Sunday, March 7
1:30 p.m. Movement at liberty for 3yo and 4yo candidates
Followed by announcement of new approved 3yo and 4yo stallions
