This was a very special edition of the Holsteiner stallion approvals, being the final time that it would be held in the current format. Although 70 stallions appeared in the catalogue, only 65 were presented as being born after June 15, prior to that date they are considered too young by German law. In the final reckoning 22 stallions were approved.

It has already become obvious in recent years that Diamant de Semilly (Le Tôt de Semilly - Venise des Cresles x Elf III, bred in France by Jules Mesnildrey) is creating a very interesting line in Holstein.

The Diamant de Semilly line

The youngest generation is represented by the newly approved stallion Deventer (Denver - Davita x Caretino, Stamm 2269, breeder: Hans-Hermann Gericke). Denver equals Dinken x Diarado x Diamant de Semilly. In fact, 13 stallions were presented from Diamant de Semilly’s line, including Darius (Dominator Z - Waldfee x Acodetto, Stamm 844, breeder: Kersten Lutzke) who was also approved.
However, most importantly, the champion also descends from this line: Esmeraldo (Emerald van’t Ruytershof – U-Carela x Caretino, Stamm 4847, breeder: Friedrich Meyer), and his win was the crowning success of this mareline in 2021. Several horses from this same family competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and to bring forward the champion of the stallion approvals is the icing on the cake. “This stallion immediately catches the eye both visually and with his outstanding quality over the jump,” exclaimed Breeding Director Stephan Haarhoff on behalf of the licensing commission. Adding; “Already during the pre-selection he stood out due to his ability and his very good front leg, which he confirmed during the licensing days in Neumünster. In addition, he presented himself as an extremely typey stallion with an impressive set-up.”.. To read the complete article you need to be a subscriber
