Following the appointment of Piet Raijmakers as the new coach of the Brailian showjumping team, there will no doubt be fierce competition among Brazilian breeders for the LA 2028 Olympic project.

The LA 2028 Olympic project is an initiative launched by the Brazilian Sport Horse studbook ABCCH to develop high-performance horses for the Los Angeles Games.
It’s an ambitious initiative aimed at promoting and developing the Brazilian showjumping Horse (BH) in high-performance competitions. Following the model of the successful Rio 2016 Olympic Project – which led the Brazilian team to compete with the BH Land Peter do Feroleto, ridden by Stephan Barcha – this new edition aims to identify, prepare, and secure the resources needed to develop horses capable of competing in the selection trials for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The initiative will be fully funded and implemented by ABCCH, under the supervision and approval of the Brazilian Equestrian Confederation (CBH). The primary goal is to provide technical and structural conditions for the evolution of the Brazilian horse, as well as to encourage breeders and riders to participate actively in this process.
The selection of horses will be closely monitored over four years, with observation at pre-defined events. In 2025, young horses aged six to eight years will be evaluated. The following year, seven- and eight-year-old animals will be the focus of the analyses. In 2027, the selection will focus on eight-year-old horses and pairs participating in national and international mini Grand Prix and Grand Prix events. Throughout all stages, the technical committee will observe the animals’ physical, technical, and behavioral conditions.
