Dancers on the triangular track, bouncy gaits in the arena, a beautiful backdrop, and perfect conditions on the catwalk, alongside competent judges and spectacular honorary prizes – such was the 2025 DSP Mare Championships, embedded in the equestrian festival at the Waldhauser Hof in Sauerlach, just outside Munich.

A magnificent host, master of horse management, internationally successful in dressage up to Grand Prix and in showjumping up to advanced level, and now also a championship judge – Uwe Schwanz has many talents. The owner of the Waldhauser Hof, which hosted the DSP Mare Championships for the second time, was one of the two judges for these championships.

At his side was another top-class figure in sport, breeding, and training: Uwe Hannöver, who lives in Garrel, Lower Saxony, in the Oldenburg Münsterland region. He is well-known and popular within the DSP community as around 30 stallions are entrusted to him each year to prepare for licensing, often for the DSP Stallion Days in Munich-Riem. For example, Hannöver’s team prepared and presented the show jumping winner of the DSP licensing in January at the Olympic equestrian center earlier this year, along with two other show jumping stallions from the premium lot.
The judging duo crowned Tryis, the class winner of the four-year-olds, as the DSP Champion Mare in showjumping. The chestnut mare is a daughter of Max Kühner’s successful stallion Chardonnay, with whom the Starnberger, among other things, placed sixth at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA. Tryis’s dam is a daughter of the former Oldenburg showjumping licensing winner Coupe Gold, out of a daughter of the 2009 European Championship bronze medalist Asti Spumante, once the flagship of the Bavarian State Stud Schwaiganger.

International sporting success with a connection to Bavaria seems to be the recipe for success at the Wimmer breeding farm in Arnstorf, Lower Bavaria, where Triys was born. “A showjumper that you can imagine in the most difficult courses,” commented Uwe Hannöver. “She was the undisputed winner for us.” Triys received a final score of 8.25, particularly in the criteria overview/caution (9.5) as well as scope and manner (9.0 apiece)...
