According to the current World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) ranking, the best dressage horse representing the PZHK Polish Sport Horse studbook (sp) is the stallion Cardamon sp born 2009 (Pegasus HB [KWPN] - Chanel [Hann] x Compliment [Hann]).
This success marks the breeding debut of Anna-Maria Gawłowska, who explained: “I have been an active dressage competitor for many years and I was looking for a young horse for myself from among many of the best breeders in Poland. I hadn’t been able to find anything that would be satisfactory both in terms of price and quality.
“Therefore, I decided to cover my Hanoverian mare Chanel (Compliment - Ronja [Hann] x Raphael [Westf]) with the KWPN stallion Pagasus HB (Flemmingh [Holst] - Difona [KWPN] x Vindicator [KWPN]), owned by Paweł Mazurek. Pegasus HB could no longer work due to an injury under saddle; he charmed me from the very beginning, although he is not the easiest horse.
“When Chanel was in foal she went to the stable of Alicja Hadry, in Obrzycko, near Pozna, and there, in 2009, Cardamom was born. After weaning, he went to Paweł Mazurek’s herd, because he has excellent conditions for raising horses. Mr. Mazurek took care of the promotion of my stallion and, together with his daughter, dressage rider, Karolina, helped prepare him for the training facility where he obtained a license. Cardamom then bred for several seasons because he was a promising stallion. His important advantage is his strong psyche. In the meantime, I became a mother twice myself, so there was also a time when dressage rider Jarosław Wierzchowski rode him.
“I started riding Cardamon when he was six years old and I presented him in the Polish Championships for Young Horses. However, I worked with him slowly because I knew he had great potential.
