A summer full of action for Hungarian Sport Horses

The summer of 2025 was anything but quiet for the Hungarian Sporthorse Breeders Association (HSH), with two major events – the National Mare Performance Test and the Foal Championship – highlighting the breeding calendar.

In early July, MSLT hosted the National Central Mare Performance Test at the National Riding Hall in Budapest. The event was open to three-, four-, and five-year-old mares of the Hungarian Sport Horse breed or foreign sport horse mares. A total of 19 horses participated: 18 Hungarian sport horses and one foreign horse. Among them, three competed in the dressage category, while the remaining were entered in jumping.
The evaluation process included conformation and movement assessments for all horses, and showjumpers were also judged in a free-jumping chute. The grading’s stakes were high: successful candidates earned approval for breeding and the prestigious Premium Mare Award.
Winners were announced in both the three- and four-year-old show jumping categories, as well as for the best dressage mare. The results were as follows:

Three-year-old jumpers

1st Chaclavia FH (Chacco-Blue x Balou du Rouet) – Breeder and owner: Szikriga Kft.
2nd Zapatera (VDL Zapatero 2 x Calido I) – Breeder: Zsófia Ónodi, Owners: Zsófia Ónodi & Csaba Piroska
3rd Native Natalie B (Native Touch x Kannan) – Breeder and owner: Balázs Bene

Four-year-old jumpers

1st Chenequa FH (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue) – Breeder: Szikriga Kft., Owner: Gyula Erdélyi
2nd Glória MT (Sandokan 290 x Balou du Rouet) – Breeder and owner: Bálint Molnár
3rd Mia Donna Diara (Dia Corrado x Lasino) – Breeder and owner: Borbála Burucs

Best dressage mare

1st I&H Royal Highness (JB Csákó x Calvino Z) – Breeder and owner: Zsigmond Iványi

Adding a cultural touch to the event, participants also attended a book launch of Judging the Modern Sport Horse, presented and signed by the author himself, György Komjáthy, a well-respected expert in the field...
