Top-class genetics and plenty of athleticism at the traditional Holsteiner State Foal Championship which saw around 35 foals from the 2026 vintage, pre-qualified in their respective breeding districts, were presented on August 15.

In the end, a daughter of Conchezz and a son of Zirocco Blue topped the strong field of competitors. The best foals were awarded valuable cash and honorary prizes as well as coveted breeding fee vouchers. Katrin Krohn was honored as the best handler.
A panel of expert judges was responsible for evaluating the young Holsteiners. Master horse trainer Hella Kuntz, herself successful up to Grand Prix level and licensing commissioner of the Trakehner Association; Antonius Schulze-Averdieck, breeder of premium stallions, international sport horses, and top-priced auction horses; and Tjark Roll, agricultural scientist and former Holsteiner Young Breeder, examined the foals closely. Roll previously worked at Reimer Detlef Hennings’ stable and as a breeding consultant for Maas J. Hell, among others, and now works at the Lewitz Stud.
The foals presented reflected the genetic diversity and breadth of modern Holsteiner breeding. Among the sires were Conchezz, United Way, Cahil, Madness, Kool Blue, Chalou, and Dominator Z.
A filly by the four-year-old Holsteiner stallion Conchezz, out of a Nevados S dam, took first place in the filly class. Bred by Manfred von Allwörden, the foal received 27.75 points and impressed the judges with her type, expression, and power. Antonius Schulze-Averdieck was enthusiastic: “An incredibly impressive type, beautiful eye, and lots of power. Congratulations are in order.” The athleticism of the dam line is also evident. Among others, Iggy (ridden by Peder Fredricson [SWE]) and Champagne Shower (ridden by Mylen Kruse [GER]) come from the same dam line...
