The Holsteiner Association is opening its genetic treasure trove for the second time at the end of the year and is offering a total of 19 straws from outstanding sires in an online auction from December 13 to 18, which are unrivalled.
Some were Olympic participants or World Cup winners, championship heroes, and international showjumpers, and they have passed on these outstanding achievements to their offspring in an impressive way. Only a small quantity of semen remains from most of these stallions today, and the situation is different from the auction of frozen semen from the Holsteiner Association: Bidding on the 19 straws – all approved for ICSI use – begins on Friday, December 13. The final bid-up begins at 18:00 (CET) on Wednesday, December 18.
Among the straws on offer are real treasures, such as frozen semen from Carthago. He was one of the most successful stallions of the time, from both a sporting and a breeding perspective. With Jos Lansink in the saddle, the Capitol I son competed at the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and won countless Grand Prix classes. His father Capitol I is also available with a valuable straw.
The valuable L-blood is represented in the treasury via Lord and his son Landos: The Ladykiller xx son Lord is a legend of international show, jumping horse breeding. From Holstein, he shaped the genetics of all successful breeding associations worldwide. With, for example, L'Eperon, Loran, Lord Z, Lord Liberty and Landos, Lord has also made a name for himself as the father of licensed stallions. Landos should also be of great interest to fans of eventing, as he produced not only the Olympic silver medalist in the showjumping, Magic Bengtsson (Peder Fredricson), but also highly decorated eventing horses such as the two-time Olympic champion London (Laura Collett).
The blood of the French Anglo-Arabian Hermes d’Authieux AA, who himself was successful in jumping up to 1m45, also enriches the Holsteiner Treasure Chamber Auction. The straws of stallions such as Corrado I, Capitol I, Caretino, Cassini I and Clearway are also likely to be very desirable.
All straws are online at www.holsteiner.auction. Auction manager Felix Flinzer will be happy to answer any questions you may have by phone on 0162-3493942.
