Following the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo and Lanaken two months ago, it’s noteworthy that Polish pairs were successful and well supported, including one Polish-bred horse presented by a Spanish rider. News about breed quality is not limited to Poland.
In Ermelo, the youngest group of four-year-old horses saw the Oldenburg stallion Escamaro (Escamillo [Rhein] - Pramline M OLD x Samba Hit II [KWPN]) bred in Germany, ridden by Hubert Jankowski. In the first competition the pair was rated at 75.800%, including 7.8 points. for gallop. In the B final they achieved 73.400% (10th place), and this time the best gait was trot, scoring 8.0 points.
In the five-year-old category, Poland was represented by the Hanoverian stallion Ebano (Escamillo - Farida [Hann] x Fiorano [Hann]) bred in Germany, and ridden by the owner, Mateusz Cichonń. In the first competition, they recorded a score of 74.400%, with the highest scored gait being the trot (7.70). The result in the B final was 76.800%, with the gallop assessed by the judges at 8.0 points (20th place).
Accoring to Cichon; “To sum up my starts on Ebano in Ermelo, I must say that on both days we presented really nice, consistent runs. There were no major technical errors. Twentieth place in the B final is the best result in terms of my starts in the World Championships in this Dutch city, and it was my third time there. I would definitely like to start with Ebano again in the World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in 2025.” He continued by adding; “I believe we have a chance to qualify because he is one of the best horses I have ridden so far. I will also have several young horses that can be taken into account when thinking about next year’s championships.”
Mateusz Cichonń also reminded that next year this world championship will move from the Netherlands to Verden, Germany, but expects that it will undoubtedly be a great and perfectly organized event once again.
Two Polish horses took part in the six-year-old category in Ermelo. Fibrina sp (Believe In Me - Falena x Le Duc), bred by Paweł Mazurek and presented by his daughter, Karolina, achieved a result of 76.800% (29th place) in the first run. The judges scored the mare’s gallop the highest (7.8 points). In the B final, the pair scored 74.400% and took 20th place, which delighted Mazurek: “Of course, I am incredibly proud of the start of my daughter and Fibrina, especially since Karolina has been training this mare practically from the very beginning. Their performance in Ermelo was not a coincidence; it was the result of hard and very well-planned work. This is a huge distinction not only for the rider and coach, but also for me as a breeder.” He added; “First of all, it’s confirmation that my breeding philosophy brings the desired results. I am also aware that these successes would not have been possible without Karolina’s support, and thanks to her ambitions, Fibrina was included in the elite group of the best six-year-old horses in the world.”..
