What a phenomenal evening it turned out to be again during the second edition of the Zangersheide Stallion Auction, during 'The Zangersheide International'. Packed stands, and 16 licensed stallions under the watchful eye of auctioneer Frederik De Backer were sold.
The eycatcher of the evening was four-year-old stallion Dourking Hero Z, bred by Luc Henry, combining the blood of Zangersheide breeding stallion Dourkhan Hero Z with that of Kassander van't Roosakker Z. With superb technique and athletic ability clearly inherited from his sire, Dourking Hero Z impressed many prospective buyers and was eventually sold to one of the biggest stallion owners in the world for a record price of €340,000.
Also passing the €100,000 mark was three-year-old chestnut stallion Cognac vh Gebergte Z, a son of Chacco-Blue and Diamant de Semilly bred by Bob and Elke Janssens. Cognac combines his impressive pedigree with fantastic jumping technique, and will move to Thea Stinnet’s Heathman Farm in the USA for €140,000.
After a heated bidding duel, Heathman Farm also invested €86,000 in the three-year-old stallion El Tornado vh Vlierhof Z, a son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Cristallo I from the breeding of the Repriels-Owen family.
A Zangersheide statement said; "We are extremely satisfied with the quality of the stallions offered and look back on a successful auction evening with an average price of €74,250."
