Selle Français to strengthen championship sales initiative

In 2020, the SF studbook launched its first auctions to help breeders in selling their young horses. After encouraging feedback from all parties, these sales highlights, organized during the foals’ and females’ championships, promising eventing horses, showjumping young horse championships, as well as two- and three-year-old male championships will be back.

This year Selle Français will be supported by Equinia for the management of commercial interests, following their 2020 initiative to set up auctions organized concurrently with various national championships. The goal was to support breeders in terms of the commercial aspects of their profession. “This support was initiated by the studbook in 2020, and enabled a number of breeders to sell their products last year,” explained Bérengère Lacroix, director of the association since 2018. “The service was very well received by the sellers, so the Selle Français Stud-Book has chosen to go forward and strengthen this approach in 2021.”
Like last year, the highlights of Selle Français auctions will be held during the Normandie Horse Show in Saint-Lô (early August for foals), in Fontainebleau during ‘La Semaine de l'élevage’ (at the end of August for two- and three-year-old females), at Le Mondial du Lion d’Angers on the occasion of Eventing Promising Horses (mid-October), then at Longines Equita Lyon (end of October), for showjumping conscripts.
