Anticipation has reached its peak as the SWB Selection Team unveils their top picks for the 16th annual SWB Elite Foal Auctions in 2023. With over 200 foals showcased at 10 different selection venues across Sweden in early August, the competition was fierce. Amidst this remarkable gathering, 32 exceptional showjumping prospects and 25 exquisite dressage prospects have emerged as this year's finalists. Two broodmares in both disciplines will also be auctioned off this year.

Continuing the tradition, the Elite Foal Auctions will once again captivate enthusiasts through hybrid auctions. Enthusiasts from around the globe will have the opportunity to place bids both online via ClipMyHorse.TV and in person at the prestigious Flyinge Kungsgård during the SWB Equestrian Weeks. The curtain rises on September 29th for dressage foals, followed by the climactic showjumping foal auction on October 6th.

Andreas Jönsson, a longstanding member of the Swedish Warmblood Selection Team, enthused, "The week we selected the foals has been full of excitement, graced by a plethora of extraordinary foals." He went on to say, "I must emphasize the astounding variety we've witnessed this year – a true showcase of excellence. Our Swedish breeders can take immense pride in their splendid contributions."

A fresh perspective was brought in by newcomer Helena Torstensson, former S-class rider and first rider at who commented, "We've had the privilege of encountering numerous foals with impeccable maternal lineages. The assignment itself was an absolute joy, and I'm truly appreciative to have joined the well-established and professional SWB Elite Foal Selection Team."

Helena Torstensson, currently working at Helsingborgs Riding and Veterinary High School, boasts an impressive track record primarily within the realm of international show jumping, stallions, and the intricate interplay of diverse bloodlines in shaping offspring characteristics. Following her tenure at Flyinge as a rider, she ventured to Paul Schockemöhle in Germany, where she served as both a rider and a competitive equestrian. She then pursued her own endeavors before returning to Flyinge. For a decade, Helena held the role of site manager, acting as the linchpin of the stallion and semen station PS Flyinge & Partners, a subsidiary of Schockemöhle's German operations.

Among this year's dazzling stars on the dressage horizon is undoubtedly Midnight Sky To B (by Blue Hors St Schuffro out of Amazone), a full sibling to Skyline To B, skillfully bred by Maria Rasmusson. Also gracing the stage is Edradour VH (by Elastic out of Darling II VH), a half-sibling to both Rosebank VH and Mr Grey VH, bred by Västra Hoby Stuteri, as well as the promising BE Frankfurt (by Franklin out of Alice), bred by Eva and Bo Pettersson, whose previous BE horses have enjoyed remarkable success.

On the showjumping front, we're thrilled to introduce Tellus Daze-W (by Toetankhamon de Muze out of Glorydaze - Cardento), bred by Hanna Holm & Emil Thillberg. With an impressively rich lineage on both sides, including the legendary H&M Butterfly Flip as the great-granddam, this foal promises excitement and potential. Also commanding attention is Anthon Berg SJ, sired by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson's stallion Zuccero (Zirocco Blue VDL out of Caretino), an enticing addition to the exceptional lineup.

The stage is set, and the anticipation is palpable for the upcoming Swedish Warmblood Elite Foal Auctions. As these remarkable prospects take the stage, the equestrian world eagerly awaits the unfolding of yet another chapter in the legacy of excellence.
