The Holsteiner Verband auction year concluded with their fourth ‘Winter Chance’ event, when 34 Holsteiners came under the hammer as part of a successful support program. It included a presentation by some of the studbook stallions.
The pre-Christmas event also included a charity handicraft competition, Christmas tree sales, and a great festive atmosphere.
The Winter Chance auction, being the highlight of the event, saw catalogue number three, Kalima (Brantzau x Lasino) from line 5819 sold to customers from Colombia. The five-year-old mare has already won young horse jumping ability classes up to elementary level; selling for €86,000 this top jumper will continue her career under the saddle of Colombian Nations Cup rider Santiago Medina. Kalima was bred by Heino Kracht, Hamburg, and consigned by Peter Landwehr, Quakenbrück.
Bred by Diedrich Petersen from Sörup and consigned by Sigrid von Appen, Rellingen, a five-year-old gelding recorded the second highest price: Dicalza B, the Dinken x Caretino son from line 7020, sold for €52,000 and is now on his way to Peru. Seven-year-old Hailey VA (Nekton x Lorentin I) doesn’t have to travel that far. After a long bidding duel, customers from Westfalia were finally delighted to win their bid of €46,000...
