Over the last few weeks, Celle stallions have been DNA tested for WFFS, with 12 returning positive results. They include the 21-year-old Don Frederico (Donnerhall - Cleopatra x Consul [Trak]) and the deceased Londonderry (Lauries Crusador xx - Windsor Queen x Warkant), with frozen semen still being available for the latter.

Don Frederico has many approved stallions in Germany. His son Dramatic (out of Weltina x Weltmeyer) is approved by KWPN but inactive and, therefore, had not been tested by KWPN. Likewise, Londonderry, the winner of the 1997 stallion licensing, has great influence in Germany as well with many approved sons. Other stallions who tested positive include Don Index (Don Crusador - Wera x Wolkentanz I); Don Romanov (Blue Hors Don Schufro - Romanze x Romanov); Don Vino (Donnerhall - Consulin x Consul); Edward (Embassy I - Fabienne x Fabriano); Londontime (Londonderry - Wieneria x Walt Disney I); Quaterhall (Quaterback - Dorata K x Donnerhall); Sarotti Mokka Sahne (s. Soliman de Hus - Lifetime x Lauries Crusador xx); Balou Peggio (Balou du Rouet - Annecy x Arpeggio); Chivas (Conteur - Elena x Escudo I); and Comte (Contendro I - Granulita 2 x Granulit). Landgestuet Celle breeders are being encouraged to test their mares for WFFS, while stating on their website that the risk is 'only 25% when two carriers of the gene are mated'.
