The 10-year-old BWP stallion Grand Cru van de Rozenberg (Malito de Reve - Duchesse van de Rozenberg x Heartbreaker) carried Belgium’s Jerôme Guery to the greatest success of his career to date by winning the Grand Prix de France which marked the finale of the CSIO 5* in La Baule. It was a spectacular result for the modest Belgian, ahead of home-crowd favourite Penelope Leprevost who rode the mare Flora de Mariposa (2005: For Pleasure - Adeline x Power Light) into second place, ahead of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) and Fibonacci 17 (For Feeling - Tarusa x Corland). Grand Cru’s multi-cultural pedigree many blue-blooded ancestors, including his paternal Holsteiner grandfather Cumano (2006 world champion in partnership with Jos Lansink), and maternal grandfather Heartbreaker (KWPN), who saw great success on the international stage with Peter Geerink. Coincidentally, the second and third-placed horses united the blood of the great Hanoverian For Pleasure, who contributed to numerous team medals for Germany up to and including Olympic Games. This sire of Flora de Mariposa is also the paternal grand-sire of Swedish Warmblood Fibonacci 17.
